Hi there
The MakePlace is a place in Napier [ Hawkes Bay - New Zealand ] where you can come to meet, learn and build (almost) anything. Think of it as a gym that you join, but instead of using the equipment to exercise your body, you use them to create and make. In other words, it is a place to make your own..
PLEASE NOTE
The MakePlace is currently in a startup phase, setting up the facilities, and expects to go into full operation mid 2013. So no facilities are live yet except for the 3D printer. In the meantime though please do sign up for one of our excellent workshops that we organise.
Updates on progress can be found on this website or use the FYI facility on the right hand side of the page to be kept updated automatically. When fully operational, Makespace will contain the facilities as noted here.
Our MakePlace is a shared urban workshop (hackerspace, makerspace, fablab) where everyone is invited to work and create. The people that become members of our MakePlace are inventors, entrepreneurs, makers, hackers, tinkerers, artists and arts and crafts enthusiasts. They learn new skills from those alongside them and collaborate on projects they could not do alone. We facilitate Art, Science, Technology and all other types of creative enterprise to happen at our urban workshop by giving access to the space and the tools in our facility.
